The old Via Francigena, a pilgrim route, which connected Canterbury with Rome in the Middle Ages, leads through the Borgo Podernovo estate.
This route has been followed by famous historical personalities, including rulers and claimants to the throne from all over Europe. If you wanted to see the Pope, there was no way around.
The Via Francigena is still visited by pilgrims on their way to Rome, on foot, by bicycle or on horseback.
The area around Bolsena lake offers a lot (it is the largest volcanic lake in Europe) such as wonderful panoramas, sunsets and views that seem like from a postcard.
Not far from Borgo Podernovo you can visit: Orvieto, Cività di Bagnoregio, Bolsena, Montefiascone, Capodimonte, Viterbo.
The following cities can be reached in just one hour by car: Rome, Siena, Assisi, Montalcino, Sovana, Pitigliano, the sea up to the Argentario and other places of tourist interest.
